Here are some of the places that I have been and the things I have been a part of. I'm proud to have worked with so many great people along the way and I look forward to meeting some new people in the not so distant future.
In Milwaukee, I was the first PD of Sportsradio 1250, and helped
launch this brand in January of 2005 with a cast of very talented
people. I was involved in all phases of the development of WSSP
including the positioning statement and the original logo. We created
some awesome listener experiences and were one of the most visable
stations in the market during my time there. Building a new brand
takes a lot of hard work, dedication and patience. If you don't have
those in spades, don't do it.
At NextMedia's South Chicago cluster in Joliet, IL, I was the Operations Manager
for five brands including NT, Classic Hits, Classic Rock, AC and
Country. The thrill of being back in my home area and working with
talented PDs and sales people may be the highlight of my career. It
was a great honor to help build those brands and work for a man like
Dennis Mockler. We launched two new brands while I was there and both
are doing very well.
In
Birmingham, I got to co-host the weirdest, strangest, siliest radio
show ever: "The Sonny & Wimp Show" with former basketball coaches
Sonny Smith and Wimp Sanderson on WJOX. I have to admit, it was fun.
In addition to keeping them in line, I was responsible for all the
station imaging as well as doing some producing work.I got to call play
by play for two SEC baseball tournaments and co-host a college football
post game show and a baseball show. WJOX is one of the top sports
stations in the southeast and it was a pleasure to help be part of
their success.
Nashville is my favorite place to have lived outside of the Chicago area. For 3½ years, I was PD/AT at WNSR,
Sportstalk radio. Covering the NFL was fun, covering the NHL was unreal,
especially since the launch of the Nashville Predators happened at that
time. We were everywhere, on every story and we did it with smoke and
mirrors. I even got to do some work with the Arena Football League. WNSR is now a fully mature radio station and has been on the
air for eleven years.
